Sometimes the hardest lesson heartbreak teaches is that love alone isn't enough.
We get so caught up in our feelings that we mistake intensity for love. We become blinded by our fears, our pride, our triggers, and our need to be understood. In the process, we forget that love is supposed to be intentional. We forget to notice when we're hurting the very person we're trying so hard not to lose.
The painful part is that sometimes no one can make us see it. Not their tears. Not their patience. Not their warnings. We only understand when they're finally gone.
And when they leave, we call it abandonment. We call it giving up. But if we're honest, no one wants to stay where they're constantly being hurt.
Heartbreak has a way of holding up a mirror. It forces us to ask difficult questions: Why do I react this way? Where does this anger come from? This insecurity? This fear of being left? Is it an old wound? A childhood hurt? A pain I've never truly faced?
The people we love are not responsible for healing what they didn't break.
That's why sometimes the greatest thing heartbreak gives us isn't another chance at love it's a chance to meet ourselves. To become aware. To take responsibility. To heal.
Because if we don't, we'll keep hurting people who only came into our lives to love us.
And the saddest thing about that is that while we're hurting them, we're hurting ourselves too.π
